Warhol’s films

Andy Warhol was a genius. Not an ingenious painter, to be sure, but an artistic genius none the less. He knew how to recognize meaning and was willing to capture and sell it. His most naked and mercenary endeavor was probably his movie stint. These unwatchable art films attracted an audience, so Andy was happy, but his “Most beautiful” series was true art.

Why are we required to smile while being photographed? We are not more beautiful; fashion models don’t smile too often in the magazines. the photogenic smile is like a dogs smile: for others. It means nothing to us. It makes me feel better about not taking any pictures of anyone. If all we had were photos to go on, we would assume everyone was perpetually happy. Photo albums, therefore, make no sense. The word MEMORIES on the cover is false. Those people did not exist.
